JOIN OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 4 H CLUB! THIS IS OPEN TO STUDENTS OF ALL AGES (PREK-12). YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN ALL ABOUT RAISING AND FARMING CHICKENS AS WELL AS HANDS ON EXPERIENCES.

CHILDREN 10 AND UNDER WILL NEED A PARENT ON SITE WITH THEM.

Session 1
Dates: March 5, 12, 19, April 9, May 7, 14
Location: Our Lady of the Lakes
Time: 6:15pm - 7:45pm
Cost $10 per child
Will have to register with Oakland Coutnty as well.  Details to follow.


Topic: 4h meeting procedures. Learn all about raising and farming chickens from hatching eggs to chicks breeds, feed, prey/protection. Creative team work in coop design, apron design, marketing ideas, barn safety (barn boots, masks gloves, lighting,). Fun games crafts and optional Saturday outings to feed stores. And of course the chicken dance. Weekly updates on chick selection growth.

Session 2 (Hands On)
Dates: June 4, 11, 18, July 9, 16, 23 (Optional weekend field trips)
Location: Mrs. Allen's Barn - 3701 Applegrove Rd, White Lake
Time: 6:15pm - 7:45pm
Cost $10 Per Child

Topic: 4h meeting procedures. Hands on learning and farming chickens. Raising, cleaning, clipping, bathing, feeding, and full understanding of breed body health. Building and cleaning coops. feeding ideas and planting chicken gardens. Egg production. Broody hen nesting. Brooder for chicks. Barn safety (clothing, washing, mask and gloves). Showing poultry procedures and requirements and review.
